Tap into your superpowers at the ranch with our debut “Act 2 at Alisal” retreat, designed to help women embrace the power of midlife. This is your time!
With your host Monica Corcoran Harel—founder of Pretty Ripe—we’ve curated a lively itinerary with some special guests that includes learning, leaning in and lots of laughter: workshops around trusting your instincts and career pivots with New York Times bestselling author Elise Loehnen, a “lasso your signature style” session with celebrity stylist and fashion influencer Abby Arad, yoga classes, a skincare tutorial with Vintner’s Daughter-founder April Gargiulo, and more.
The nightly rate begins at $775 for single occupancy or $1,135 for double occupancy, pre-ranch fees and taxes. Your nightly rate includes breakfast, dinner, drinks, all scheduled classes/seminars, 2 activities per night (horseback riding, golf, archery/air rifle, or axe throwing), and exclusive event swag bag.

*The 22 % Ranch Fee both helps offset the cost of various amenities made available to guests of the Alisal Ranch and funds additional compensation to the employees who provide service to our guests. The amenities provided include two branded water canteens, a bottle of wine in each room, Wi-Fi internet access, use of the fitness center, a shuttle to Solvang, bikes, scheduled and seasonal entertainment, tennis court use, fishing bait and tackle, use of non-motorized boats and aluminum boats at Alisal Lake, and various children’s activities, including the barnyard and kid’s arts and crafts. Part of the Ranch Fee is distributed to our service employees as additional compensation to eliminate the need for tipping at the Ranch.

Meet your host!
MONICA CORCORAN HAREL is a journalist, screenwriter and the founder of PRETTY RIPE, a multi-media platform for women (proudly) over 40. She has been called “the midlife midwife” by WWD and quoted in Time and InStyle. She also writes about beauty, fashion, midlife and the culture of modern women for The New York Times, New York Magazine and The Hollywood Reporter. She has moderated programming for South by Southwest (SXSW), The Los Angeles County Museum of Art and Soho House—and created award-winning content for companies like Estee Lauder and Morgan Stanley. Corcoran Harel’s first feature film about two middle-aged women who swap bodies with Gen Z influencers is set up at Netflix. She is currently adapting her magazine essay “My Mom Has No Friends” into a sitcom for actress Mandy Moore and Disney. She lives in L.A. with her family and really loves being an “older woman.”

Abby Arad is an LA-based wardrobe stylist and master shopper, known for helping her high profile clients feel chic and confident. With two decades of fashion expertise, Arad translates runway trends into real and accessible looks for actresses, actors, influencers and Hollywood executives. Arad is a contributing stylist to The Hollywood Reporter and InStyle, who has been quoted in The New York Times. She also styles ad campaigns for brands like Hourglass Cosmetics and Splendid. In 2020, she launched Your Stylist Says, a fashion brand and online destination that has consistently sold out capsule collections of signature bathing suits, sweaters and dresses. Her iconic ”The Best Hat” has been spotted on stars like Reese Witherspoon and Michelle Monaghan. “Fashion has the power to be truly transformative,” says Arad, who specializes in creating looks at any price point. “Your style can be your superpower.”
Elise Loehnen is a New York Times bestselling author and the host of the podcast, Pulling the Thread, where she interviews cultural luminaries about the big questions of today, including people like Jo Harjo, Loretta Ross, Pico Iyer, Dr. Gabor Maté, and Terry Real. She’s the author of the New York Times bestselling On Our Best Behavior: The Seven Deadly Sins and the Price Women Pay to be Good. Elise has also co-written 12 books, including five New York Times Best Sellers Previously, she was the chief content officer of goop. While there, she co-hosted The goop Podcast and The goop Lab on Netflix, and led the brand’s content strategy and programming, including the launch of a magazine with Condé Nast and a book imprint. Originally from Missoula, Montana, it’s important to her that people know that she went to the National Mathletes Championship when she was in 8th grade and that she’s a horse whisperer. Elise now lives in Los Angeles with her husband, Rob, and their sons, Max and Sam.
Dr. Nett is a Santa Barbara-based functional and integrative physician who believes true healing calls for resilience, trusting our bodies and finding a sense of joy within ourselves. Her early interest in health and love of science steered her to study medicine at Georgetown University, followed by a residency at Stanford University Hospital. After practicing as a board-certified radiologist, Dr. Nett craved a deeper and more personalized connection with patients. She decided to train in functional medicine and became certified by the American Board of Integrative Medicine in 2021. “Medicine is not one-size-fits-all,” says Dr. Nett, whose boutique practice prioritizes compassion and individual care. Her areas of focus include brain health, sleep, hormonal imbalances and menopausal transitions.
A thought-leader in the beauty industry, April Gargiulo is the founder of Vintner’s Daughter, a performance-driven, nutritional skincare company whose mission is to have a profound positive impact on the skin, life and world of its customers through its commitment to unparalleled quality and craftsmanship. April’s background in fine winemaking informed her exacting quality and craftsmanship standards. She launched Vintner’s Daughter in 2013 with a single game-changing product, Active Botanical Serum. It quickly became a word of mouth, cult favorite among editors, beauty enthusiasts, skincare professionals and made Vintner’s Daughter one of the most coveted and beloved skincare brand. April is never far from a pot of tea and marvels at the wisdom and elegance of nature. She resides in San Francisco and Napa Valley with husband and fellow entrepreneur Mitch Lowe (also her CEO) and her two young daughters.
Minka was born and raised in Santa Barbara and grew up in the foothills foraging for edible and medicinal native plants, cultivating a passion for botany, nutrition, and herbal medicine. She attended Yo San University, where she graduated with honors. She went on to train extensively with world-renowned expert Mazin Al-Khafaji, receiving her Diploma in Traditional Chinese Medical Dermatology, and works with the International TCM Dermatology Association. Minka is the owner of Points of Health Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine Clinic in Santa Barbara, where she works with an integrative team practicing East Asian Herbal Medicine and Acupuncture. She has specialized in treating women’s health; dermatology; chronic inflammatory and allergic diseases; thyroid and hormone balance; and prenatal, postpartum, and pediatric care for twenty years. Minka works with her patients to restore balance, health, and harmony, allowing their true beauty to radiate from the inside out.
Upon completion of her first yoga teacher training in Santa Ynez, Jasmine embarked on a spiritual journey to India to study the more traditional modes of yoga and yoga training.
Jasmine weaves foundational breathwork throughout her classes, applying ancient wisdom to our contemporary western world in a useful and tangible way. Her goal is to encourage and support growth of the physical and spiritual self; citing the interconnectedness to each other, the world, and the universe.
Jasmine aims to give her students a safe place to befriend their body and reclaim their mind, offering a space to return to again and again by bringing awareness to breath and body.
