Winterlight

A Candlelight Dinner Series

Flickering candlelight, exceptional wine, and the quiet magic of the ranch in winter—Winterlight is back. Returning to Alisal Ranch for the 2026–2027 season, this beloved series features three intimate candlelight dinners set within the historic heart of the Santa Ynez Valley. Last year, every event sold out, so we encourage you to reserve your seat early.

Step into a room aglow with hundreds of candles and settle in for an evening that moves at its own unhurried pace. Each Winterlight dinner features a thoughtfully crafted multi-course menu by our Executive Chef, paired with exceptional wines from a featured Santa Ynez Valley winery.

We’re delighted to announce that Stolpman Vineyards will kick off the series on December 13, 2026. Additional winery partners for our January and February dinners will be announced soon, showcasing more of the Santa Ynez Valley’s most celebrated wineries.

The 2026–2027 Winterlight series takes place on three Sunday evenings, beginning at 6pm with dinner being served at 6:30pm.

Winterlight is one of the only events of the year open to the public, making it a rare opportunity to experience the magic of Alisal Ranch firsthand. Whether you’re planning a memorable date night or an unforgettable evening with friends, this is the kind of dinner that stays with you long after the candles burn down.

Guests are invited to make a trip out of it – book an overnight stay at Alisal Ranch alongside your dinner tickets and receive a discounted nightly rate, the perfect excuse to wake up on the ranch and explore everything the Santa Ynez Valley has to offer.

Must be 21+ to attend. Tickets are $175 per person (before tax and service fee). Cancellations made within 48 hours of the event will incur a 50% charge. Tickets are available through Ranch Concierge. Event begins at 6pm and dinner will be served at 6:30pm.

Wine Partners

Stolpman Vineyards

Pete Stolpman grew up alongside his family’s vineyard, first visiting the property at age six when Santa Barbara County’s rolling, oak-dotted hills were still largely undeveloped. After graduating from Georgetown University, he spent three years preparing to lead Stolpman Vineyards, making wine in Australia’s Barossa Valley and Chianti Classico, Italy, before working in wine sales. In 2009, Pete took over leadership from his father and began reinvesting in the estate through distinctive plantings, including Trousseau, Savagnin and The Great Places pre-clonal Syrah project. The vineyard earned CCOF Organic Certification beginning with the 2022 vintage and Demeter Biodynamic certification with the 2023 vintage.

Pete has also led the creation of the lighter-bodied Love You Bunches wines and, with his wife Jessica and longtime partners Maria and Ruben Solorzano, the Para Maria label. Since 2013, he has served as president of the Ballard Canyon Winegrowers Alliance, representing the country’s only AVA dedicated to Syrah. Today, Stolpman wines are enjoyed around the world, but Pete remains most proud of expanding his father’s sustainable employment program, which supports a year-round crew of 37 and shares profits through the La Cuadrilla red blend. Pete and Jessica hope to one day pass the vineyard on to their sons, August and Otto, continuing a legacy rooted in family, community and the land.

Flowers Vineyards & Winery

Nestled along the far western reaches of California’s Sonoma Coast, Flowers Vineyards & Winery has been growing Chardonnay and Pinot Noir for over 30 years. Perched on steep, windswept ridges overlooking the Pacific Ocean, Flowers’ estate vineyards—Camp Meeting Ridge and Sea View Ridge—produce wines that reflect a true sense of place, with pure, vibrant coastal character. Helmed by longtime winemaker Chantal Forthun, the estate continues to craft highly limited Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from these original vineyards, alongside signature wines from the Sonoma Coast. In 2019, they opened House of Flowers – a design-forward winery in Healdsburg California nestled within lush gardens and towering redwood groves, and home to artist and chef residencies and other community programming.

Representing Flowers at Winterlight is Matt Brown, Regional Sales Director for Southern California and Hawaii. For nearly a decade, Matt has shared the wines and stories of the Sonoma Coast throughout coastal communities. An avid surfer with a deep connection to the Pacific, he brings a personal appreciation for the ocean-influenced landscapes that shape every Flowers wine.
